( KTRS ) An East St. Louis man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for attempted murder of a Police officer.
The charges stem from an incident back in June 2015. Last year, 52 yr old Gregory Nelson was stopped by a trooper who suspected him of driving under the influence. During the stop, while Nelson was out of the vehicle, he reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the trooper and the fled.
The trooper was unharmed and Nelson was arrested a few days later.
St. Clair County Judge Zina Cruse handed down the sentence Wednesday.
