St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)   A woman is dead and her infant child was found unharmed following a shooting in downtown St. Louis.

Police say the woman was gunned down late Sunday night on Washington Avenue.  The suspect then took off in the car the woman was in with her 9-month child inside, according to investigators.

The child was later found in a car seat unharmed in north St. Louis at Parnell Street and Glasgow Avenue. The car was later recovered on Bremen Avenue.

It wasn’t immediately clear to police if the shooting happened in or near the car. Police aren’t sure if the shooter and the victim were acquainted.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
