( KTRS) The City of Wentzville has been approved as a “Certified Local Government” by the National Park Service. The new was announced Thursday on the 100th birthday of the Park service.
The role of a city or municipality with a CGL designation is to enforce historic preservation laws, and to review nominations of properties for the National Register of Historic Places.
The CGL program was established as part of the National Historic Preservation Act in 1966.
In Wentzville, this preservation commission has been designated as the Downtown Committee.
