St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  An emergency alert was issued briefly Wednesday morning on the campus of Washington University.

University officials say the alert issued at 9:36 a.m. was done so  as an extra precaution after a report of an incident involving gunfire in the vicinity of the university’s North Campus.

The Washington University and St. Louis Metro Police Departments responded and determined that there was no longer a threat to the university. All members of the university community were cleared to resume normal activity at 9:57 a.m.
