JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – A recently found recording shows Democratic attorney general candidate Teresa Hensley criticizing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris Koster.
Former Cass County Prosecutor Teresa Hensley said in a Wednesday statement that the video was taken during a 2006 debate after she succeeded Koster as prosecutor. In the video, Hensley says the prosecutor’s office was “a mess” when she replaced Koster. Koster now is attorney general.
Koster was a Republican while serving as Cass County prosecutor and later switched parties. Hensley says he supported her opponent.
Hensley says the switch to a Democratic prosecutor also entailed changes in leadership style. She’s now supporting Koster’s bid for governor.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Eric Greitens’ campaign manager on Wednesday described the video as a “scathing” assessment of Koster’s work as Cass County prosecutor.
