( KTRS ) Two people were shot while driving Thursday night, leading to a car accident that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.

Police say the victims’ car overturned on the driver’s side after it crashed through an iron fence on Caroline Street near Ohio Avenue. Multiple bullet holes were found in the vehicle. The woman who was driving was found trapped underneath the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The man had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital in critical and unstable condition.

Police say the shooting happened just before 7 pm. An investigation is ongoing.
