St. Louis, MO (KTRS) Two St. Louis police officers are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a man from a massive house fire in north city.
Authorities say the officers were the first to arrive at the burning home in the 4100 block of Penrose late Tuesday night. That’s when they rescued a man from the back porch of the home.
Fire Capt. Caron Mosby called the actions of the officers “courageous.”
Seven other people got out on their own, including five children.
The officers suffered burns, but were able to drive themselves to the hospital. Three others were also injured and are said to be in critical condition.
Fire investigators say the fire may have been caused by a child playing with a lighter.
