Town & Country, MO (KTRS) A west county community is taking the guesswork out of noise complaints, establishing decibel limit guidelines.
An ordinance was approved this week in Town and Country that prohibits continuous noise in excess of 55 decibels from 10 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and in excess of 65 decibels other hours of the day.
Police Chief Patrick Kranz says the ordinance is better than requiring an officer to determine on a case-by-case basis what constitutes being too loud.
The law sets a limit of 80 decibels for short-duration sounds.
To enforce this ordinance, police cars will be equipped with sound-measuring devices.
