The Illinois State Police are investigating after a 17-year-old died during a short police chase in East St. Louis.

Authorities report that when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the teen sped off. The car went about a block or two before crashing near 18th street Monday afternoon.

At this time police have not said why they wanted to pull over the teen.
