( KTRS ) A man has been arrested after shooting at a North County officer.
Authorities report that at around 1 am Sunday morning Velda City police attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding on W. Florissant Ave. A chase began, and that is when 19 yr old Davionne Churchman reportedly opened the drivers side door and started shooting at the officers – while driving. One bullet luckily ricocheted off of the officer’s windshield.
Churchman eventually crashed the vehicle into a tree in the 9800 block Vickie. That is when two suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot, both officers saw that Churchman was still armed and fired several rounds at him.
He was later found in the Dellwood area with a gunshot wound to the buttock. One suspect, a 15 yr old was conveyed and later released into the custody of the family court, the second suspect also a juvenile, remained on the scene and surrendered without incident.
19 yr old Churchman has been charged with one count of Assault First Degree on Law Enforcement, one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and one count of Armed Criminal Action. He remains jailed on a $250,000 cash only bond.
