( KTRS ) The suspect wanted connection to the Sunday night shooting of St. Louis police officer is dead following a shootout with police.
The shootout took place around 12:45 am Monday morning near the intersection of Smiley and Leola avenues.
Local officers and federal authorities scanned the area after the shooting. The suspects vehicle was located in a parking garage on Laclede’s Landing. Police reportedly saw the suspect in another vehicle, as a passenger, and attempted to pull it over.
The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran through an alley, into a yard at on Smiley Avenue, saw an unmarked police cruiser and fired a shot into the windshield.
The suspect then fired on other officers as they arrived on scene. Police fired back and the suspect was killed.
No officers were injured during the shootout with the suspect.
Authorities believe the suspect may have been involved in several robberies, a carjacking and a homicide over the past several days in the metro area.
