St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)  A suspect is dead after being shot by police during a confrontation in north St. Louis.

Police say the incident happened at around 8:15 Tuesday in the 5400 block of Ridge Avenue. Police say the suspect allegedly cut the officer’s arm before being shot.

A police spokeswoman, Schron Jackson, said the officer was taken to a hospital. The officer’s medical status was not immediately clear.

The suspect’s name and additional details were not immediately released.
