ST. LOUIS (KTRS) St. Louis Police say a suspect has been charged in Tuesday morning’s shooting on the northside that involved a city police officer and left a transgender suspect dead.
St. Louis Police say the incident happened in the 5400 hundred block of Ridge Avenue. Police say they answered a call about a stabbing and when they arrived, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Kenny Herring, a transgender female, allegedly cut the officer’s arm before being shot to death. A second suspect, 28-year-old Kristy Thompson (photo), is charged in the assaults. The officer was treated and released from an area hospital. He has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
An organization called Missouri Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, issued a statement from its chapter leader, Becky Morgan, which reads in part: “I am horrified to learn yet another transgender woman was killed with a gun, the second in less than two weeks, that it is a tragedy anytime a transgender American is killed.”
