(KTRS) – The St. Louis Zoo plans to buy Grant’s Farm for about $30 million.
The zoo will buy the land from six heirs of August A Busch Jr. The Post-Dispatch reports the purchase would triple the zoo’s size and add a third campus to their holdings. Before the deal can go through, a judge must approve the sale of the land and voters in several counties must approve a tax hike to pay for the increased operating costs.
If everything moves ahead, the zoo could close on the land December 2016 and begin renovations as soon as 2018.
