ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police say a man suspected in an apartment stabbing was shot and killed by officers after he cut one of them with a kitchen knife.
Police say the officer whose arm was wounded arm during the confrontation about 8 a.m. Tuesday in north St. Louis was taken to a hospital with injuries. He was expected to be treated and released. The 30-year-old suspect’s name wasn’t released.
Interim Police Chief Lawrence O’Toole says officers responding to a reported stabbing in the apartment found a victim with severe knife wounds. O’Toole says that when officers tried to arrest the suspect there after the victim identified him, he slashed at the officers, cutting one before being shot and killed.
The officers have been placed on routine administrative leave, pending the investigation.
