( KTRS ) A St. Louis police officer who fatally shot 18-year-old VonDerrit Myers Jr. last fall has resigned after police opened an investigation into whether he was drunk when crashed his squad car.
Police spokeswoman Schron Jackson reports that officer Jason Flanery was driving his patrol car Saturday morning when he struck a parked vehicle and left the scene before officers arrived. Jackson says Flanery refused to take a breathalyzer test when officers went to his house, the department got a search warrant and returned later in the day to draw blood.
Jackson says Flanery was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident. She says he was released pending application for warrants.
