St. Louis, MO (KTRS) Some workers in the city of St. Louis will soon see an increase in their pay.
The ordinance setting the City’s minimum wage at $10 is set to take effect on Friday. The Circuit Court has lifted its injunction that previously blocked the ordinance from becoming law. Beginning January 1, 2018, the minimum wage will rise to $11.
The City of St. Louis is mailing notices to employers and expects employers will voluntarily comply with the law. Businesses who don’t comply with the ordinance are subject to prosecution in Municipal Court, and also may be subject to revocation of business licenses and occupancy permit.
The City has established a monitored email address for employees and employers. That email address is minimumwage@stlouis-mo.gov. Questions about the new law may also be directed to (314) 589-6735.
