St. Louis County, MO  (KTRS)  St. Louis County Police are warning about a recent phone scam.

Police say victims have reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department or the St. Louis County Police Department. The scam artist tells the victim they missed jury duty and must pay a fine to avoid jail time.

In some cases, the caller claims to be St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.

Anyone who receives one of these calls is advised to hang up and contact St. Louis County Police.
