St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The St. Louis County chapter of the NAACP is calling for an independent investigation into the ballot problems in the county.
Ballot problems impacted dozens of precincts during the April 5 election. The county is already conducting its own investigation, as is the Missouri Secretary of State’s office and a Missouri House committee.
However in a letter to County Executive Steve Stenger , NAACP chapter president Esther Haywood requested a bipartisan group to investigate and make recommendations for improvement. Haywood was also critical of the discipline for Election Director Eric Fey. He was suspended for two weeks, but Haywood noted that ballot problems in November of 2014 led to the dismissal of Fey’s predecessor, Rita Heard Days.
Days is black, and Fey is white.
