A measure to raise the age to buy tobacco products in St. Louis County is one step closer to becoming a reality.
A final passage on a bill to raise the age from 18 to 21 to purchase tobacco products is expected at Tuesday night’s St. Louis County Council meeting. Last week the council gave the measure preliminary approval.
The bill has drawn opposition from the vaping industry. Opponents want e-cigarettes removed from the measure, claiming those products have helped smokers kick the habit.
If approved, the bill would go into effect by the end of the year.
