St. Charles County, MO (KTRS) St. Charles County leaders are considering opting out of the annual sales tax holiday weekend this summer in efforts to combat the area’s heroin epidemic.
A bill was introduced at the St. Charles County Council meeting Monday night to use the extra revenue to hire two additional narcotics detectives. Officials say pulling out of the sales tax weekend would save the county about $172,000.
A vote on the measure is expected this month.
The sales tax weekend runs August 5-7.
