( KTRS ) Seven people have been arrested in central Illinois after an alleged theft at a St. Louis mall and an interstate car chase.

Police say two vehicles were allegedly involved in a theft on Saturday morning at the Plaza Frontenac in St. Louis. The thieves reportedly smashed glass display cases at the Saks Fifth Avenue, stole purses and then fled.

One vehicle headed north on Interstate 55, that vehicle stopped just south of Farmersville in Illinois.

Seven people were arrested after a brief foot chase. Authorities haven’t released a description of the second vehicle or other suspects at large.

An investigation is ongoing.
