Washington Park, IL  (KTRS)  The second suspect wanted in a fatal downtown carjacking is dead after being shot by police in the metro-east.

Police say officers were attempting to arrest 21-year-old Devonte Gates Thursday afternoon in Washington Park when the shooting occurred. Gates was wanted in the death of Brandi Hill, who was fatally shot during a carjacking Sunday night.

Earlier this week Ross Randolph of Belleville was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hill’s death.
