TROY, Mo. (AP) – Crews continued searching for a Missouri woman after her husband was found shot to death of an apparent suicide.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Binder also says a recording device belonging to Sussette Benhardt has led investigators “to conclude that she is a victim of assault by” her husband. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the body of her husband, William Benhardt, was found Thursday in his truck, west of the couple’s property near Troy. Authorities say he was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers and firefighters have been searching the couple’s property for Sussette Benhardt, who was last seen arguing with her husband Wednesday. The Benhardts were divorcing.
Binder says a murder-suicide is a possibility, but deputies don’t if Sussette Benhardt is alive or dead.
