SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) – A 35-year-old southeast Missouri man is dead after being shot outside a liquor store, and police say they have identified a person of interest.
The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/1Zj8v6T ) reports officers found the Sikeston man shot in the chest and lying in the road after the incident, which happened around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses told police the shooting happened in the parking lot of the liquor store, and that the victim ran to the roadway as he tried to get away.
The victim was unconscious but alive when police arrived, but he died later at a hospital.
The SEMO Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate the case.
