At least ten rescue crews are on the scene where a school bus went off I-44 at Lindbergh and careened into the trees. Several victims have been taken off the bus and transported by ambulances; at least two hospitals have been put on alert, St. Anthony’s and St. Clare. It’s not yet known where the bus was headed or how many students were on it. This story will continue to be updated as details become available. Listen to KTRS online for breaking details.
UPDATE:
The bus was transporting students from Hanna Woods Elementary in Ballwin, no fatalities reported. All victims have been taken from the scene, including a driver who was pinned in the bus, but taken on a stretcher to an ambulance, giving a thumbs up to those at the scene. Witnesses reported some injuries to students, but nothing life threatening at this point. Students were estimated to be around 10 and 11 years old; they were all a part of the city’s desegregation program, and have been taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
