(KTRS) – It was a record night at the polls in Missouri. Secretary of State Jason Kander says that the unofficial tally finds a record number of voters turned out for the state’s primary election.
In a statement, Kander says more than 1.5 million voters cast ballots, that amounts to nearly 39 percent of eligible voters. The previous record was set in 2008, when 1.4 million votes were recorded. The unofficial results have Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump small leads in the state. Clinton and Trump lead their respective races by fewer than 2,000 votes.
The final results will not be certified for approximately four weeks.
