( KTRS ) Gov. Bruce Rauner has been butting heads with Illinois Democrats on many things during his first term, including the long drawn out budget impasse.
Recently though, he has bucked the party line on legislation the GOP has fervently opposed: Expanding birth control coverage and access to abortions. Neither bill received a single Republican nod, but Rauner signed both measures last week in a move that has angered some conservative groups.
One of bills extends insurance coverage for nearly all contraceptives, the other says that physicians who refuse to perform abortions, for moral and religious reasons, must provide information to patients on where they can go instead.
