( KTRS ) Police report that one person is dead following a fatal fire at a retirement home in North County.

Just after 6pm Tuesday evening firefighters were called to a fire in a second-floor apartment at the Bethesda Village North Retirement Community on North Drive.

Once the fire was doused, the body of an 85 yr old woman was found inside.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

No further details have been released.
