( KTRS ) A police officer is recovering after being struck in South St. Louis.

Police say the officer was riding at ATV around 8pm Sunday night near the intersection of Vandeventer and Chouteau Aves when he was struck from behind.

Thankfully the officer was not seriously injured, but was still taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
