( KTRS ) A man was shot in the business district on Cherokee Street last night.

Police say the man was shot about 8:30 p.m. near Cherokee Street and California Avenue. Officers found the man conscious and breathing, he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man was apparently the target of a robbery, but no information on a suspect or suspects has been released at this time.
