POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) – A southeast Missouri man is in custody following a fatal shooting outside a Wal-Mart store in Poplar Bluff.
The body of 50-year-old Stahl Sturgeon of Doniphan was found around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday inside a car on the store parking lot.
Authorities say 33-year-old Joseph Wisdom was arrested inside the store soon after the shooting. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree armed criminal action. He does not yet have a listed attorney.
Relatives told Butler County authorities that Wisdom had been acting paranoid. Dobbs says relatives dropped Wisdom off along a highway, where Sturgeon gave him a ride.
Authorities believe the shooting happened after a fight inside the car. Dobbs says police believe that Wisdom also shot at other vehicles.
