Lakeshire, MO (KTRS) Two police officers are on administrative leave after fatally shooting a man during a violent domestic situation in south county.
Officers responded late Thursday night to a Lakeshire apartment in the 10000 block of Puttington after a 30-year-old Jacob Hohman allegedly attacked his 33-year-old sister and her 12-year-old son with a knife and a hammer.
Police say when officers arrive from LakeShire and St. Louis County, Hohman was armed with a hammer. The officers repeatedly yelled for Hohman to drop the weapon, however he refused to do so. Police say he then charged at the Lakeshire officer. That’s when the Lakeshire officer fired two shots at the suspect, causing him to fall.
Police say Hohman stood up within seconds, and again raised the hammer over his head and charged at a St. Louis County Police Officer. The St. Louis County officer fired six shots at the suspects. Hohman was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Hohman’s sister and nephew are hospitalized in stable condition.
