( KTRS ) Police are investigating a Thursday evening shooting that left 1 dead and a 14 yr old boy injured.

Around 5:40 p.m. police responded to a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Northgate and Coberg. Authorities report the suspect, an unknown black male, exchanged gunfire with one of the victims near the intersection. One victim, a 25 year old male, was transported to a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, where he later died from his injuries. It is unknown if the suspect was shot because he fled from the scene before officers arrived.

During the shooting, a 14 yr old boy walking in the area, was struck in the leg by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting is under investigation by the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons. Identification of the deceased victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
