East St. Louis, IL (KTRS) Classes are back in session today in the East St. Louis School District.
This comes after teachers approved a new four-year contract on Friday, ending a 21 day strike. This means students will have to make up those missed days of school. District officials say this will be done by extending the school year into June and shortening holiday breaks.
Meanwhile, the deal provides an average salary increase of nearly $13,000 over the life of the contract.
