(KTRS) – The St. Louis police officer who shot and killed VonDerrit Myers in 2014, is facing drunken driving charges in an unrelated incident.
Investigators say that early on the morning of December 19, Jason Flanery was off-duty when he crashed his police vehicle into a parked car. Police say he then left the scene. During the investigation, officers found Flanery in his home and said he smelled of alcohol and had trouble standing.
A blood test found his blood-alcohol level at .11–nearly 50% more than the legal limit. Flanery resigned from the force after his arrest.
Last week, the family of Myers filed a wrongful-death suit against Flanery, saying he killed Myers without provocation. An investigation found that Myers shot at Flanery first.
