St. Louis, MO (KTRS) No charges will be filed against two St. Louis police officers who shot and killed a mentally ill man last year.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office concluded the officers had a “strong self defense claim” in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Kajieme Powell on August 19th, 2014 in north St. Louis. Investigators say police were called after Powell allegedly took some items from a convenience store along the 8700 block of Riverview.
Powell had a knife and was acting in a “threatening manner” when officers arrived, according to investigators. Police reportedly ordered Powell to drop the knife before shooting him.
