The fight continues after the closure of the New Life Evangelistic Center.
Reverend Larry Rice and more than 100 homeless people gathered in downtown St. Louis outside of city hall on Thursday morning to sign a petition, which calls on Governor Eric Greitens to provide a state building for an emergency shelter. After years of battling with the city, the New Life Evangelistic Center was forced to closed its doors earlier this month over the lack of a occupancy permit.
In response to the closure of the shelter, the city set up a temporary overflow shelter in a warehouse. That shelter is set to close in June.
Rice says he will deliver the petition plus a letter to the Governor Friday.
