St. Louis County, MO (KTRS) Heroin related deaths are increasing at an alarming rate in St. Louis County.
That’s according to a report released by the St. Louis County Department of Health, which detailed drug-poisoning deaths in St. Louis County from 2010 through 2014. In 2012, there were 78 heroin deaths in the county. That number jumped to 87 in 2013 and 110 in 2014.
“The data is alarming,” said County Executive Steve Stenger. “There is a clear upward trend, which is why NOW is the time to act to reverse these numbers and we are doing just that.”
The report also found that men between the ages of 25 and 44 have the highest rate of heroin related deaths in St. Louis County. There are no major disparities in heroin related deaths between black and white St. Louis County residents.
