St. Louis, MO (KTRS) A new holiday attraction is about to be launched in downtown St. Louis.
St. Louis Union Station offered a sneak peek on Thursday of its “Holidays at Union Station,” which includes a Santa Express Train Ride, a 3-D light show, and ice skating. Tom Lyons, president of Rail Hospitality and Entertainment, says the goal is to make this a top holiday destination spot in North America and bring jobs to the area.
“For the holidays, which we know that people’s hours may get cut, we have over 150 jobs created just from this event alone.” said Lyons.
Lyons added that the theme of this attraction is based on St. Louis’ rich cultural heritage. “Our city has been founded by immigrants from all over the world. The traditions here are amazing, from German to Italy to Ireland to everywhere and those traditions for the holidays is really big.”
When asked if he was concerned about St. Louis’ crime rate deterring visitors to the attraction, Lyons had this response.
“We’ve had the Polar Express the last two years and there has not been one incident at all. We have VIP parking and parking up front, so it makes it easy for people to come here.”
“Holidays at Union Station” runs from November 18th through December 30th.
