(St. Louis) -KTRS
Thousands of visitors descend on the city this week as the 2017 National Urban League Conference gets underway. Those people are expected to drop in the neighborhood of 3-million dollars while they’re here.
On top of the short term benefit to the city’s coffers, Kitty Ratcliffe, president of Explore St. Louis, says “there are major corporations and sponsors for the Urban League bringing equal to that (3 million dollars)—if not more—in new expenditures for things they’re producing in St. Louis,”.
Ratcliffe added “There are bigger conventions in St. Louis this year, but there are not more important ones,”.
National Urban League CEO & President Marc Morial said a focal point of this convention will be the progress made in Ferguson saying -quote- ” we want to talk about the work that we have done and others have done to turn anger into action”-end quote.
Today the organization will dedicate the new community empowerment center in Ferguson.
