ST. LOUIS (KTRS) St. Louis police have released the names of the two Laclede Gas employees and the suspect in yesterday’s fatal shooting that killed all three men. The two employees who were working in the 59-hundred block of Minerva when they were gunned down are identified as 52-year-old William Froelich of the 3-thousand block of Stuart and 27-year-old Alex Boschert of the 2-thousand block of Highway Y. The suspect is identified as 51-year-old Clinton Willis of the 58-hundred block of Highland. Police believe the victims were picked at random.
Police say the shooting didn’t appear to be racially motivated. Willis was black and both workers were white. Willis has a long criminal history dating more than 20 years that includes convictions on drug trafficking, assault and armed criminal action. Court records show he was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1997.
Published reports state friends have told police that Willis was upset over an electric bill but in a statement released minutes ago, Ameren Missouri said, “Due to the fact that a criminal investigation has been launched into yesterday’s tragic Laclede Gas employee shooting, we can tell you that an account under the name of Clinton E. Willis was not under the threat of disconnection. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims’ family members and co-workers at Laclede Gas during this difficult time.”
