ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a trooper has shot a suspect in the shoulder in a downtown St. Louis casino parking garage.

Corporation Juston Wheetley says the shooting happened Saturday morning at the Lumiere Place Casino after the trooper was told that a man was driving erratically around the third floor of the parking garage with a woman on the top of his vehicle.

Wheetley says the trooper was driving up a ramp to the third floor when he encountered the suspect driving down the ramp. The driver stopped and the woman, who by this time was inside the vehicle, got out and ran away.

Wheetley says the trooper then fired a single shot when the driver accelerated toward the trooper. The suspect’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.
