(KTRS) – According to one Missouri legislator, lobbyists and lawmakers are literally in bed together.

Representative Bart Korman submitted a bill that would compel lawmakers to list any sex with lobbyists as a gift on reports to the state ethics commission. An ethics overhaul is a top priority for lawmakers this legislative session. Missouri has the loosest ethics laws in the nation with no campaign contribution limit, no limit to lobbyist gifts, and no waiting period for lawmakers to become lobbyists after leaving office.

There are some reporting exceptions to the proposed rule. If the relationship between a lawmaker and lobbyist started before either the lobbyist was registered or the lawmaker was elected, they do not have to report it. Also, Korman’s bill would not require attaching a dollar value to any reported physical relations.
