JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – Wealthy Missouri businessman John Brunner has poured another $1 million into his campaign for governor.
Brunner’s campaign on Tuesday reported the suburban St. Louis businessman gave himself another $1 million. He’s entering the final few weeks before the competitive Aug. 2 GOP primary. Former Navy SEAL officer Eric Greitens, former U.S. attorney and House speaker Catherine Hanaway, and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder also want the Republican nomination.
Brunner so far has loaned himself $4 million and pumped more than $650,000 in cash into his campaign. It wasn’t clear Wednesday whether Brunner’s latest contribution was cash or a loan.
Brunner previously bankrolled his own failed campaign for U.S. Senate in 2012. He spent more than $7.5 million but lost the nomination to Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.
