JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – A mysterious political action committee is giving GOP candidate for Missouri governor and former Navy SEAL officer Eric Greitens close to $2 million.
Greitens’ campaign on Monday reported SEALs for Truth cut him a check for $1,975,000.
Federal Election Commission records show the PAC was formed June 15. It hasn’t yet reported other giving.
The treasurer, listed as Nicholas Britt, didn’t immediately respond Monday to Associated Press requests for comment.
The money comes days after campaign finance reports showed Greitens was behind two fellow GOP contenders in recent fundraising, although he had more cash to spend.
Greitens faces a competitive four-way GOP primary Aug. 2.
Greitens can use the nearly $2 million for advertising or other campaign expenses in the final weeks leading up to the primary.
