Belleville, IL  (KTRS)  The cause of an overnight train derailment in Belleville is being investigated.

Authorities say a coal train jumped the tracks around  2 a.m. Wednesday  at the Norfolk Southern crossings, near Foley Drive and Frank Scott Parkway. Power lines were knocked down in the accident. This has left about five hundred residents and businesses in the area without power.

Althoff Catholic High School cancelled classes due to the power outage.

No injuries have been reported.
