( KTRS ) More patients are spending more money on medical marijuana in Illinois this year.

37 registered dispensaries sold about 2.3 million dollars in medical marijuana to around 7 thousand qualified patients in May. So far, Illinois has raked in 10.8 million dollars since purchasing began in November of last year.

State lawmakers have sent a bill to extend the pilot program by 2 years, adding post-traumatic stress disorder and terminal illness as qualifying conditions.
