( KTRS ) A man walked into a Casey’s general store in Alton, IL. last week, claiming he had been shot in a meet up from Graiglist.

Now authorities have discovered that he was shot, during a home break in.

29 yr old Brenton Webster, of Wood River has been charged with home invasion, armed robbery and several other charges. He was apparently shot in the chest Thursday night when he tried to rob a home in Godfrey. Webster asked the home owner to use the bathroom and then pulled out a gun when inside, luckily the home owner was also armed.

After being shot Webster walked into the store and asked employees to call an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and now remains jailed.
