ST. LOUIS (AP) – A St. Louis man has been ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison for his role in the 2014 shooting death of a bystander who was walking with her grandchildren.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Circuit Judge David C. Mason sentenced 22-year-old Tommy Dora on Wednesday.
Dora was convicted last month of first-degree murder.
Authorities say of 46-year-old Juliette Cleveland-Davis was walking with her three grandchildren — then ages 7, 5 and 4 — when she was caught in crossfire between Dora and another man, Errick Owens. The children were unharmed.
Owens had already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
A son and daughter of Cleveland-Davis addressed the judge Wednesday, saying they forgive Dora.
